What Should You Serve With BBQ Chicken Sandwiches? [7 Delicious Suggestions]

Rate this post

I adore BBQ chicken sandwiches and could eat one every day and be perfectly content. When it comes to this wonderful meal, though, not all side dishes are made equal. Finally, choose items that will compliment the smokey, savory aromas of the chicken. So, what should you serve with your BBQ chicken sandwich?

BBQ chicken sandwich goes well with salads like Caesar salad, macaroni salad, Mexican street corn salad, spicy coleslaw, kale & apple salad, but also baked sweet potato fries and caramelized onion & mushroom quinoa.

BBQ chicken sandwiches are a summertime favorite, but what’s a barbecue without some delectable side dishes? These sides to offer with BBQ chicken sandwiches will enhance your enjoyment of them.

Caesar Salad

If you’re searching for a light side to go with your BBQ chicken sandwich, Caesar salad is a must. This traditional meal comes together quickly and is the ideal complement to fiery BBQ ingredients.

It’s prepared with crisp romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, garlic, and a creamy mayonnaise and lemon juice dressing. I like to spray some Worcestershire and spicy sauce over the top to bring out the flavors even more.

This salad is not only visually appealing on the dish, but it is also high in nutrients. The dark green leafy lettuce is abundant in vitamins K and A, both of which are required for good vision and bone health. Plus, the parmesan cheese provides some much-needed calcium to your dinner! Enjoy! [1]

Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is one of my favorite summer side dishes to offer with BBQ chicken sandwiches. It’s a terrific way to beat the summer heat while still getting some additional nutrients. And I love how adaptable it is since you can use anything you have on hand!

I start with cooked rotini and then add chopped tomatoes, cucumber, and shredded carrots to create the ideal summer pasta salad. Then I make a fast vinaigrette with olive oil, vinegar, and spices and toss everything together. The end product is a delectable side dish that complements the chicken sandwiches nicely.

And the greatest thing is that you can prepare this meal ahead of time, making it ideal for entertaining guests.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Oven-baked sweet potato fries are the ideal side dish for any salad, particularly ones with chicken. They’re the perfect blend of crunchy and sweet, and they complement the smokey BBQ aromas perfectly.

Sweet potatoes, oil, salt, and pepper are the only items needed to create them at home. Slice the sweet potatoes into thin fries, sprinkle with oil and spice, and bake until crispy in a preheated oven. Serve immediately and enjoy!

While I like oven-baked potatoes and french fries, I sometimes vary my chicken sandwiches by serving them with different root vegetables. Mashed potatoes and roasted carrots are two of my favorite side dishes.

They all complement the chicken and provide a sweetness or taste that contrasts pleasantly with the salty chicken.

Mexican Street Corn Salad

Grilled corn, cabbage, feta cheese, and cilantro, among other ingredients, may be combined to produce a delectable Mexican Street Corn Salad.

Grilling the corn directly over the burners or in a grill basket imparts a distinct smokey taste that complements the BBQ chicken wonderfully. The feta cheese provides a salty balance, while the cilantro gives a freshness that contrasts with the smokiness.

To finish, combine the ingredients before gently tossing them with an olive oil and lime juice dressing to ensure that all of the tastes mingle. That’s all!

Spicy Coleslaw

This next side dish is a spicy Southern-style coleslaw that is one of my faves. It goes well with BBQ chicken sandwiches since it provides a little of spice to balance out the sweetness of the sauce.

You’ll need shredded cabbage, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, and black pepper to prepare this coleslaw. I like to add some chopped jalapeo for added heat.

Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving after carefully combining all ingredients.

Caramelized Onion & Mushroom Quinoa

Use a cup of quinoa for this side dish and cook it according to the package directions.

In a separate skillet, combine olive oil, sliced onion, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook for 10 minutes, or until the onion is golden brown. Now add the quinoa and cook for another 2 minutes.

The caramelized onion, mushrooms, and garlic on top of the quinoa give this side dish a lot of flavor! Serve it with BBQ chicken sandwiches for an unforgettable meal.

Kale & Apple Salad

For a healthful side dish with a little of crunch and some wonderful sweetness, make kale and apple salad. Begin by tossing the kale with the red cabbage, carrots, and green onions. Then, for natural sweetness, add some chopped apples and finish with your favorite vinaigrette dressing.

The BBQ chicken sandwich has delicious tastes.Furthermore, this salad is light enough not to overpower your dinner while yet satisfying healthy appetites. The acidity of the dressing complements the smokiness of the meat.
