You go to Texas Roadhouse once, and you know it won’t be the last time. Everyone I know was delighted (if not astonished) with their meals. I like their basic, but great, ingredient and taste combinations. The first imitation dish I attempted at home was Texas Roadhouse grilled BBQ chicken. I must claim that I succeeded!
It’s a rather straightforward recipe, so I’m certain you’ll succeed as well!
Of course, I didn’t have access to the original Texas Roadhouse grilled BBQ chicken recipe, so this was the best I could come up with.

How to Make Texas Roadhouse Grilled BBQ Chicken?
There are simply a few steps to take. It’s up to you how long you let the chicken to rest, but the remainder will go fast.
Step 1: Season the chicken
If you don’t season the meat before grilling it, it won’t be very juicy. The longer it sits, the more tasty it becomes. So go ahead and season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder!
As you may know, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all chicken spice. Adjust the spices to your preference. Add some dried oregano, smoked paprika, or chili flakes, for example.
Because Texas Roadhouse utilizes chicken breasts, I use the same cut of meat. One full chicken breast will yield 4-6 filets, depending on size.
After seasoning, place the chicken breasts in the refrigerator for at least one hour and up to three days. If you are not cooking it that day, store it in an airtight container or cover it with aluminum foil.
Step 2: Grilling
Heat a nonstick grill pan with two to four teaspoons vegetable oil over medium heat. When it is hot, add the chicken breast filets. Grill them for a few minutes on each side (around 6 minutes each side, depending on thickness).
Place them on a plate to cool somewhat so you don’t burn yourself.
Step 3: Spread BBQ marinade
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius). Place the baking paper or something similar on the casserole dish.
Spread BBQ sauce over the grilled chicken filets and lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 2 tablespoons of sauce per filet will enough.
I used the traditional Heinz Barbecue Rich & Smokey sauce from Heinz. If you want to amp up the heat, add Texas-style Bold & Spicy barbecue sauce.
Place everything in the oven for 8 minutes.
Serve the BBQ chicken with your favorite side dish.
What to Serve with Grilled BBQ Chicken?
Steamed broccoli was inspired by the TR side dish for grilled BBQ chicken. If you don’t like vegetables, try French fries with onion rings, coleslaw, or a creamy potato dish. Fried bacon and green beans (similar to those served at TR) may also suffice.
Whatever you choose, make sure you enjoy it!
